Background

In the pharmaceutical industry, a product complaint means an alleged failure of a product. Complaints are monitored by regulatory bodies, and can have serious implications for product manufacturers. But pure technical failures are rare; far more common is for use error to lead a patient to believe their product is faulty. Manufacturers are doubly motivated to minimise complaints of this nature. Not only do they risk falsely tarnishing a product’s image, but this type of complaint also means the patients concerned are not getting their full dose of medication.
